6-11-11

We left two months ago! And it is starting to feel that way. It's a lot to be on the road this long. I worry that the kids, especially Lucca, are starting to forget that we do have a home and this is not what our life is always like. I kind of wish that we could just go home for a couple of days and then pick up right where we left off. But we are at least two weeks from home at this point and I think about all the things we would miss if we went back now so... We are going with the plan of being home the last week in July.

After waking to assess the damage to the bed, which was a tiny broken piece of wood (I didn't know how it has held the bed up until now?) Paul headed to the hardware store to get a new piece of wood. After he got back I went to take a shower. On the walk back through camp I saw 1 beaver, 1 chipmunk, 1 squirrel, and what I think was a mongoose.

When we finally got on the road it was lunch time. A stop at Subway and we were good to go. Lucca fell right asleep and Jack got to watch Finding Nemo and Bambi! On the way we drove under a lock on the St. Lawrence River and we drove through the northern-most points of NY. At points we could have thrown a ball to Canada. We also got the best surprise treat! We stopped at an Amish cart on the side of the road and bought fresh blueberry pie and a loaf of bread. From real Amish people! With a real horse cart! And real Amish kids playing in the cart while their mom and grandma sold baked goods! Can you tell how excited I was. A side note, that I wish wasn't true, was that the girls were eating Ruffles :(. I guess all kids are the same. They also had a horse for sale.

After crossing the Vermont border we decided to stop for the day at a nice Rv place full of Quebecians. We were the only ones speaking English. We played at the playground, did laundry, and filled the propane tanks. A good day for all. Paul and I are now going to watch a movie. Peace out.
