It wasn't part of the grand plan but we decided to venture into Washington DC today. The campsite we are at made it too easy, as there is a bus stop literally steps from our site that had a bus to take us to the metro rail directly into town. The trip only took about 40 minutes total and the kids had fun going underground on the train.

We got off the train right at "The Mall" in DC and it was a short, although super hot and sticky, walk to the Natural History Museum. We picked the natural history museum because the kids could care less about the historical monuments and Jordan and I had done the tour on a previous trip.

On our walk over we took a stroll through the National Sculpture Garden.

In the Natural history museum we enjoyed the Dinosaur Exhibit, The Mammal exhibit, and the bones exhibit.

Then we watched a really cute movie in IMAX 3d about baby Elephants and Orangoutangs. Lucca even sat still and watched for the entire 40 minutes. After a quick lunch in the Atrium Cafe, we got a Popsicle and sat by the fountain in the sculpture garden.

The kids even cooled down with a foot soak.

We were back to our site by 4:30 and were excited to finally go and see Dave and a his family and farm. Dave was a great tour guide as he showed us the farm and let Jack pick some peas and lettuce.

He even let jack pick out the veggies for tonights dinner from the refrigerator in the barn. Jack also got to ride with Dave when he put the tractor away.

Back at Daves house we hung out and played while Dave made us some burgers and veggies and a delicious salad. All from veggies from his farm.

After dinner Jordan and the kids went out to catch fireflies. It was a fantastic visit and we really wish we had more time to spend with Dave and his family. Hopefully, we'll see them again soon. Now off to bed.
