6-4-11

We slept in again...I could get used to this. This morning was all about Mimi-keeping and getting ready to head out to see my friend Dave Liker and his family a few hours south in Maryland. Unfortunately he called with the news that he had gotten sick and was in pretty bad shape. So we decided it would be best to postpone our visit until we came back through here after visiting Maine. We are really looking forward to seeing him and meeting his daughter and visiting his farm.
We decided to head into Kennett Square for lunch. Since Kennett Square is the mushroom capital of the world, we thought it appropriate to visit "The Mushroom Cap", a neat little store devoted to nothing but mushrooms. They even have a farm exhibit and video presentation that Jack and I watched while Jordan bought some mushroom soup mix and a "Shitake Happens" dish towel for Mimi. After we went next door and had sushi at a really good restaurant and then stopped in to another little shop to get a pair of toms for Jordan. We ended up getting shoes for me and Lucca too. The people in the town are really friendly and we ended up chatting with everyone for much longer than we had anticipated.
We got back to Mimi around 3, hitched up, and headed out to our next stop, Hershey, PA. On the way we drove through pennsylvania dutch country and witnessed real Amish people driving their horse-cart up the highway. We also saw some farmers tending to their fields with a horse-pulled plow. We were probably way more excited than we should have been. Jordan said it was like seeing a celebrity. I shrugged off the idea of touring an Amish farm, but Jordan convinced me that if we have another opportunity we will take it.
The drive only took about an hour so we had time to play at the playground at our camp before dinner and bed.
