6-20-11 day 70

Today we really had no destination planned, we just got on the road. We knew we wanted to stop at a lighthouse on the coast for lunch but that was about it. We made it to the lighthouse, which was beautiful (york nubble) but there was no parking nearby for us to park Mimi. We spotted a restaurant that had a large lot so we decided to eat there and then take a look around the lighthouse. The second I pulled in a woman ran out the restaurant yelling at us for parking in "the middle of the lot". When me moved to where she wanted us, another woman came out of the restaurant and yelled at us for parking in the new spot. We decided they didn't want our business so we left. Didn't even as much as snap a photo of the lighthouse. Disappointed, we made our way back to the road past lobster house After lobster house with nowhere to pull over. After a wrong turn we happened upon a miracle. A roadside Jamaican Jerk shack. They even had our favorite drink of all time, Ting. You usually can only find it in Jamaica....
We ate and the kids played in the yard.

After lunch we finally decided on a campground just outside of Hartford Connecticut called Wilderness Lake. We pulled into the campground with low expectations, but we ended up loving it. We had a lake front site, there was only one other site with people, and they had canoes to use for free.

We played on the beach for a while and when we got up the nerve we took out the canoe. Lucca had a hard time sitting still, so after a quick ride with her and Jordan, Jack and I went out for a longer trip. After dinner and after we put the kids to bed, Jordan and I sat by the fire and even caught a firefly for fun.

Location:The road, Wilderness Lake, CT
