5-3-11

Today we left our texas home headed out to Oklahoma. Before we left Amarillo we stopped by the Cadillac Ranch which was only about a mile from where we were camped. This is the place where all the old Cadillacs are buried in the middle of a field. I guess you are encouraged to graffiti on them, and a guy who was just leaving gave us a can of white spray paint. Jack had a blast painting the cars, and we felt like great parents encouraging our little vandals on.

To redeem ourselves we passed this big roadside attraction on the way to Oklahoma. I think it was over 9 stories tall. Jesus Christ thats big!

We also passed this sign at the Oklahoma border. This was off the road in the middle of really nowhere, in basically the ghost town of Texola.

Unfortunately, it wasn't the place, and we still had a few hours to drive. The kids were getting hungry so we stopped at another steak joint called Dans. It basically felt like we were walking into a dining room in someones house. We were the only people who were not local. Got some mediocre food and a lot of stares. We finally pulled into our campground at about 8pm. The sun was setting and we were one of only two campers at the campground. Sleep was needed...and here comes that wind again...
