4-27-11

Today we left our windy home in Albuquerque and headed to Jemez Springs (On Kari's recommendation). We stopped first at Campers World and REI for a propane adapter and some water shoes for Jordan. We left with the shoes, not the adapter. However, we did find a thermometer for the Rv that we proceeded to fry the next morning by leaving it in the direct sun. The directions specifically warned against this, so i guess we wont be able to return it. On the way to the camp site that we researched we discovered some great spots along the road for beautiful scenery. Jack also discovered some scenery of his own. He found a big pile of poop in the slide at the burger king playland. We never let him go in before because they are kind of gross anyway...but now...Jack doesn't even want to go in them. For the beautiful scenery...see below. (don't worry jack's photos were blurry so we are not posting them here)

This is Soda Dam right after the town of Jemez Springs (which is very cute). There was also some neat art made of nails.

!!

When we got to the campsite we had planned on staying at, it was closed. So we went back 13 miles to the ranger station to ask about another possible site. They gave Jack a balloon and a sticker and directions to the camp. When we finally arrived at an open campground, it was gorgeous. It's called Vista Linda and is just south of the town of Jemez Springs, 50 miles west of Santa Fe. There are only 13 sites and only 4 were occupied.
In a tight redrock canyon with a stream and green trees. Exactly what we had hoped for. And...there was no wind!!

We relaxed, had dinner, and slept well.
