Last night we got up to pee and noticed the stars here are amazing. Not seeing the stars all night is the one big disadvantage of sleeping in Mimi.

Today we took the camp hosts, who we are very fond of, advice and drove up a back road highway that was mostly dirt. The drive was amazing. We drove through two tunnels and a up along a steep canyon over a waterfall.

Then stopped for a picnic lunch, once the canyon opened to beautiful meadows and wetlands.

Along the road we spotted a beaver dam and home. We even saw where it felled its logs.

The kids fell asleep so we decided to keep driving along the dirt road (unpassable in winter). Along the way we saw some places. Including this house made of shipping containers.

The New Mexico mountains won our hearts today.

Even after such a long day, we managed to get in a few minutes of fishing before dinner and bed.

After the kids went to sleep, we cleaned out two weeks worth of travel from the truck. I'll be dreaming about squished cheerios...Good night.
